Accessibility Statement: Fear Comes Home
At Shifting Reality, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the thrill of the unknown. We are committed to making our game accessible to as many players as possible. Below is a breakdown of our current features and known considerations.
1. Visual Accessibility
-
Brightness & Gamma: Players can adjust Gamma and Brightness levels via the Settings menu to ensure visibility or comfort.
-
Subtitles: Comprehensive subtitles are provided for all dialogue and critical sound cues.
-
Text Size: UI text and document read-outs are designed for high legibility; however, font scaling options are currently limited.
-
Motion Sickness: Head bob and motion blur can be toggled off in the Graphics menu to reduce nausea.
2. Auditory Accessibility
-
Visualized Audio: Critical gameplay cues (such as footsteps or approaching threats) are represented through environmental visual changes for players with hearing impairments.
-
Independent Volume Sliders: Separate controls for Master, Music, Sound Effects, and Dialogue are available.
3. Motor & Control Accessibility
-
Key Rebinding: Full keyboard and mouse rebinding is supported.
-
Toggle vs. Hold: Options are provided to switch between "Hold" and "Toggle" for actions like crouching, sprinting, and interacting with objects.
-
Sensitivity: X and Y axis sensitivity can be adjusted independently.
4. Content & Sensitivities (Dispel the Unknown)
Horror is meant to be unsettling, but we want our players to feel safe in their environment. Fear Comes Home contains the following themes:
-
Photosensitivity Warning: This game contains sequences of flashing lights, flickering shadows, and sudden visual transitions (jump scares) that may trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy.
-
Atmospheric Tension: The game uses psychological horror, isolation, and persistent dread as core mechanics.
-
Sudden Audio: High-intensity "stingers" and loud noises are used throughout the experience.
5. Ongoing Efforts
We recognize that accessibility is an evolving journey. We are actively working to improve:
-
Full Controller Support and Remapping.
-
Colorblind filters (Protanopia, Deuteranopia, and Tritanopia).
-
High-contrast UI mode.
